Before one can understand the future they first most comprehend the history. The Mount Olive Apostolic Church was founded in 1959, under the leadership of the late Essie Williams. Services were held in a small building known as, ‘The Hall” on Highway 501 (LP Bailey Hwy). Pastor Williams began the ministry with her husband and children. We know anything God is in shall and will prosper, because; throughout the years as Pastor Essie Williams continued to break the Bread of Life, people begin to flow into the church. Due to the overwhelming growth, directly beside “The Hall’ in 1963, “The Mount Olive Holiness Church, was erected. In 1977, Pastor Williams purchased thirty-nine acres of land on Highway 891, in Halifax Virginia, where we are currently located. Shortly after, Pastor Williams health declined and she departed to glory. When something great has already been blessed by God the blessings just continues to flow. For the Bible says, Psalm 1:3

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season: his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

In 1980, a five feet and three inch woman by the name of Leonia Palmer was installed as the Pastor of The Mount Olive Holiness Church. By just looking at this newly installed pastor with her quiet and humbled spirit no-one ever expected her to preach with such power and passion. For seven years, she preached and continued to build the faith of the saints. In that seventh year, God revealed to her it was time to build, but this time a building three times bigger than before. Pastor Palmer understood the principle that anything worth having always comes with hard-work, dedication, and perseverance. During the building of the new church a winter storm in 1988, was so strong that it collapsed the church. Sure this was enough to diminish even the strongest in faith, BUT GOD—On May 11, 1991, through the leadership of Pastor Palmer allowed the completion of “The New Mount Olive Apostolic Church” to be completed. God will not be mocked, sometimes he take the foolish things to accomplish his mightier works. Throughout the years of Pastor Palmer vision and direction numerous ministries has been birthed. The church continues to grow as people are drawn to the ministry of Pastor Palmer. As 1st Corinthians 2:9 states:

“But it is written, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM.”

We believe that there is still much land to possess and God has greater works and blessings in store for New Mt. Olive.
